Sermon Title: Restoration for the Fallen
Sermon Text: 2 Kings 1:1-4
Prov. 24:26; Ps. 37:24; Micah 7:8
Point #1: Man's Tendency to Fall
Romans 7: 18-21,24; 1 Corinthians 10:12
"In other words, I can’t get so better than you that I don’t understand what it is to fall. That I don’t understand what it is to need forgiveness. That I don’t understand what it means to go to God to strengthen myself after a mistake." (I Cor.10:12)
Point #2: Your Restoration is not about the Fall but your choice after the Fall
Duet. 30:15-19; Micah 7:8; Ps. 119:30; Joshua 24:15; Hebrew 11:24-25
"Your restoration is not about the fall but your choice after the fall. We may fall. We may slip. We may make mistakes, but life is not defined by your mistakes and failures as much as it is defined by the subsequent choices you make."
(Duet. 30:19) "It is up to us to choose. We can’t leave whether we will be healed or delivered up to chance. We’ve got to make that choice. We’ve got to choose life. We’ve got to choose healing. We have to choose deliverance, particularly in the case where you have fallen."
Point #3: God is long-suffering and Jesus Christ is our Advocate
2 Peter 3:9; I John 2:1-2; Heb. 4:15-16
"God is speaking to someone today who has fallen. Who has made their mistakes. Who has suffered the consequences, and yet you refuse to come to the altar. You refuse to confess your fault. You refuse to do what it takes. He says you’re not coming off the bed until you will call upon a God who restores."
"You’ve fallen. God saw the fall. He was there, but He sees that your choice is still not Him. But He yet offers you life. He yet offers you healing. He yet offers you a hand up. Child of God, your healing, your restoration comes through none other than Jesus Christ."
